When we saw this amazingly gorgeous modern chair made out of old growth redwood and almost fell over in our own chairs! Beautiful modern design – gorgeous natural redwood – a perfect combination.
Seeing old growth redwood in person is a spiritual experience. We visited a small mill in a remote part of the wine country area in Northern California and the owner kindly showed us his redwood. The owner salvages old redwood trees from rivers and other areas where they have fallen down or been damaged by fire. The experience was surprisingly a lot like wine-tasting…. you are seduced by the whole experience – the aroma of the redwood, its beauty, its texture, its natural wonder. The color and vertical grain of the wood in old growth redwood is especially intoxicating.
We love that this chair is made from reclaimed redwood from a NYC water tower - hence the name the “Water Tower” Chair. If it seduced us this much just from a photo, we can only imagine seeing it in person!
